Integrating SEL and Restorative Justice

Avril Management (AM) advances education reform and violence prevention by integrating Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) with restorative justice practices. SEL strengthens students’ ability to self-regulate, develop empathy, and make responsible decisions, creating a foundation for emotional awareness and positive behavior. Together, these approaches move schools away from punitive, exclusionary responses and toward practices that promote understanding, responsibility, and connection.

How We Execute:
  1. Assess the Environment: Review discipline data and school climate indicators to identify clear intervention priorities.
  2. Build Adult Capacity: Train educators and staff in SEL-aligned restorative practices and trauma-informed responses.
  3. Apply Restorative Structures: Implement restorative processes such as facilitated dialogue and accountability circles.
  4. Develop Student Skills: Teach students practical skills in emotional regulation, conflict resolution, and reflection.
  5. Measure Impact: Evaluate outcomes through reductions in disciplinary incidents and improvements in overall school climate.
